Kirby got into chuckwagons in the late 1980’s when he outrode for a few years. In 1996 he decided to try driving and was very successful winning the Rookie of the Driver award. Since 1996 Kirby has drove on and off but even if he wasn’t in the wagon box his love for the sport saw him traveling down the road with his cousin Ervin Quinney to help. Kirby lists Ervin as his greatest influence, Ervin helped him find his love for horses and wagons. Kirby’s son Curtis is the unsung hero in his barn along with his biggest help and he couldn’t go down the road without him. 2018 saw Kirby having 8 top 20 runs and finishing in the top 20 at 6 of the CPCA tour stops. Kirby’s hard work and driving skill showed last season as he received the prestigious Bruce Bremner award for the most consistent barreling outfit. Kirby’s goal in 2019 is to run hard and stay penalty free.
