Moving from
Ontario to Saskatchewan 14 years ago Chris Boissoneau was a spectator at
the races when he decided that Chuckwagon racing was an extreme sport he

venue to live out his passion for horses.
He started
racing ponies with the Prince Albert Professional Chuckwagon Association
in 2001 and got into the wagon in 2003. In 2007, Chris took his dream
of driving the Big wagons by getting sanctioned to drive with the CPCA.
2008 will mark his Rookie Year as a driver. Chris is looking forward to
learning from his mentors and having a fun filled racing season.
Chris
resides in Blaine Lake with his partner Cynthia and their 3 daughters
Amelia 8, Mulaina 5 and Iyana 2. When Chris is not racing he works as
a diamond drill operator for an exploration company. During his free
time Chris enjoys being with his family; attending his girl’s
activities, taking them on adventures and teaching them about horses.

One of the most competitive individuals
in the CPCA today, 2008 will be Gary’s 13th appearance at the
Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby. In 2007 Gary had a very
impressive showing at the Rangeland Derby placing 9th in the
average and 12th in money won.
Gary has placed in the top 10 in the CPCA
standings the past five years finishing in second place for the second
consecutive year qualifying him for his second sudden death CPCA
Championship heat. Despite the challenge of trying to replace three of
his top hook part way during the season; Gary’s horsemanship skills
showed as he never faltered a bit – having two top outfits the whole
year through. Posting fourteen top five runs including three day money
runs as well as six other top ten runs; finishing five times in the top
ten average with two show championships to add to his name at High River
and winning the Bill McEwen Memorial Buckle at the St. Walburg Fair.
With Gary’s other outfit he collected eleven more top five and ten top
ten runs with two giving him day money and finishing six times in the
top ten average. Now there is a barn with a lot of depth and two strong
outfits.
Gary's proudest moments were watching
his eldest son, Logan declared the CPCA High Point Outrider in 2003,
2004, 2005 and 2007 missing 2006 but keeping it in the family where
Dustin was declared the 2006 CPCA High Point Outrider. He got to watch
both Logan and Dustin win the Calgary Stampede Aggregate and
Championship as Outriders in 2005 and Logan again in 2007 on both
occasions behind Luke Tournier.
The Gorst Family was honored with the
Kevan Mayan Sr. Memorial Award in recognition of their outstanding
contribution to the Chuckwagon Racing Way of Life - “Warmhearted,
Outgoing, Supportive, Loving & Generous”.
After some time off, Gary returned to
driving chuckwagons fulltime in 1997 and in his first year back
qualified him for the 1998 Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby.
Gary
and his wife Janice have three children, Logan, wife Shalyn and daughter
Danika, Dustin,
and Jenalee. Gary is employed as the Supervisor of Operations for the
Department of Highways and Transportation in Meadow Lake, SK.
