Gary Gorst driving for HJR Asphalt added another championship to his resume this time in front of his hometown crowd in Meadow Lake. The grandstand was full of Gorst fans and the packed house erupted when Gorst was recognized as the show winner. Coming off barrel #3 in heat 11 Gorst orchestrated a clean run of 1:05.40 good enough for 3rd best time of the night and took advantage of barrel penalties by Ray Mitsuing and Wayne Knight to complete the victory.
Gary Gorst continues to lead the CPCA standings with 524 points, Roger Moore is 2nd with 469.5. Vern Nolin holds down 3rd with 454 and Jim Knight is back in the top 4 with 445.5.
The top 8 in the CPCA after the Turtleford event (August 6-8) will qualify for the Don Laing Trailers Prairie Racing Series Final in Saskatoon where the top 4 after 3 days will run for the $25,000 Horse Trailer.
